Educating, Innovating, and Serving Communities
Building a better future with deeper collaboration in the pursuit of excellence.
S.A.U.N.A. focuses on education, research, and charitable efforts to meet the distinct needs of underserved Asian populations. Prostate health is a clear example: although Asian men historically show lower incidence of prostate cancer than Western populations, they are more likely to present with aggressive, later-stage disease—driven by genetic predispositions, dietary influences, and cultural barriers to screening. Asian immigrants in North America experience shifting risk profiles as lifestyles change, but continue to face underdiagnosis, stigma, and unequal outcomes. To close these gaps, education must be culturally attuned, research must explicitly examine Asian populations rather than extrapolating from Western data, and charitable outreach must directly address barriers to awareness, access, and care. Through targeted mentorship, advocacy, and service programs, S.A.U.N.A. ensures that Asian perspectives are represented, advancing equity in education, discovery, and community support for both practitioners and patients.
